I’ve got recommendations for a lot of your blanks in my World Lit section. :)

Off the top of my head, House of Stone by Christina Lamb is a great non-fiction book about Zimbabwe-it follows two Zimbabweans (one white, one black), their childhoods in segregated Rhodesia, and their adulthoods when things come to a head. And Out of Africa by Isak Dinesen is gorgeous and set in Kenya.

You’ve probably read it already, but The Poisonwood Bible is set in the Congo, and I loved it.

Eva: Thanks! I’d actually planned to check out your lists—I checked them out when you first put them up, and they’re an amazing resource!

I’ve heard Out of Africa is good; now that I think about it, probably from a review you wrote. :)

Jenny: Thanks for the recommendation! I haven’t read it (yet?)
