Harry Potter movie

I’m off to the States tomorrow morning! Well, actually, I’m off to St. Catharines, where I will stay overnight with my aunt and uncle. And then on Wednesday morning, we’ll be off to the States!

The new job is going well. I really like everyone I’ve been working with—the place just has a great atmosphere. And the students are all so nice and polite. I’ll say this for private schools in this city: they sure do turn out some well-behaved kids.

My little sister and I went to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix tonight. I really liked it, even though OotP is by far my least favourite Harry Potter book. I found Harry himself far less annoying in the film than the book—time constraints meant that a lot of stuff was pruned, including most of Harry’s most tedious angst. I was sorry that the full pranking of Umbridge wasn’t shown; it was one of my favourite parts of the book, and I was looking forward to seeing it onscreen. Still, a lot of other things helped to make up for it: Harry being such a good teacher to the DA, Neville’s expelliarmus, the dementor scene at the beginning, the very creepy shots of Bellatrix Lestrange and Azkaban. The woman who played Dolores Umbridge was very good. Rupert Grint and Emma Watson were perfect, as usual, and Daniel Radcliff was excellent in this film. I think he’s become a very good actor; I wasn’t thrilled with his performances in the earlier movies, but he’s really come into his own.

Anyway, have a great week, everyone!

Well-behaved kids? Is that allowed?!
