US Trip

You know what’s weird? The fact that you can buy digital cameras at the pharmacy. I feel like that’s really the type of store I go to for small-ticket items; I can’t imagine walking into a drug store with the intent to spend several hundred dollars. (Well, maybe if I lost all my makeup in a fire or something and had to replace it. And if I were a person who wears makeup.) Plus, imagine how the conversations with my friend would go:

“Nice camera! Where’d you get it?”

“Shoppers Drug Mart.”

“. . . .”

Totally not at all connected to that, this month I’m going to be visiting the States for the first time! I’m pretty excited, although we’re not so much going to the US as we’re driving down for my cousin’s wedding, which happens to be in the US—in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, a little town north of Philadelphia. I still can’t believe she’s getting married—she’s only nineteen!—but I’m really looking forward to the wedding. And to the drive—my uncle says the route is very pretty.

The drug store?! That IS strange!

I hope you enjoy the trip to Pennsylvania—that isn’t too far from us. It’s rather warm and humid this time of year, but indeed quite beautiful.

Thanks! So I’ve heard—my aunt and uncle have told me to pack cool clothes.

Drug stores are carrying everything these days.

And I hope you enjoy your trip to the States.

Thanks!

Yeah, it seems like all stores are branching out into strange new areas. Bookstores sell home furnishings, supermarkets carry cell phones and televisions….
