The Language of ThreadsWorld Lit Challenge: China

The sequel to Women of the Silk, and I actually enjoyed it even more than the first book. The Language of Threads follows Pei and her extended family to Hong Kong in their attempt to escape from the Japanese invasion of China during World War II.

If you enjoy the first one, there’s no question that you’ll like this one, too.

Wow, you’re reading a lot for your world lit challenge! I like the sound of the book from Rwanda you mentioned in an earlier post; I might pinch that one for my challenge!

Yeah, I was dog-sitting for my aunt for a week, and since she lives in another city where I don’t know anyone, I had a lot of time to read. Another aunt lent me all the books—I just asked her for anything she owned that might be considered world literature. She has good taste!

Now that I’ve read Speak Rwanda, I want to read more about the genocide—A Sunday at the Pool in Kigali and Shake Hands with the Devil are now on my TBR list.
