6. Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman (Fantasy)
Richard Mayhew stops to help a young woman he finds bleeding on the sidewalk, and his act of kindness changes his life. He finds himself in the strange, dangerous world that exists, unseen, beneath his own.
London Below is one of those fantastic, nightmarish creations that typify Gaiman for me. As usual, his writing is excellent and his world-building exquisite.
